Response 4 From the readings, I think that the content is accurate especially concerning the idea of traditions aswell as that of the memories. Childhood memories are very important to people and represent where people came from. In addition, these memories also form a sense of identity, which is important to people and unique to their lifestyles. These memories are mostly conserved through architecture. To me, this information is authentic because when a person sees an old building that they lived in as a child, they tend to remember the things that took place in those buildings.

In the same way, when an old building is destroyed, precious memories also go with it. The most important information that resonated with me includes the fact that traditions do not point backwards but rather forward. This is because they allow societal assumptions to be criticized and to be changed according to the present. The other idea that resonated with me is the fact that infrastructural monuments could be used by oppressive regimes to show manipulations. An important point learnt include that there exists a history to the difference between disciplinary and social memories.

In addition, the environmental experiences that are rich in providing memories affect people’s lives in a profound manner. These memories help an individual in interacting on societal settings and in establishing a unique identity with which they can identify. As an adult, childhood memories may also be an important factor in determining the course of action that a person takes when faced with common challenges.
