Extract of sample "Global Warming In New York City"

Global warming arises as a result of a gradual increase in the general temperatures of the earth’s troposphere due to an increase in the number of greenhouse gases such as Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Methane (CH4), Ozone (O3), and Carbon (IV)Oxide (Cifuentes et al. 419). Therefore, global warming is a major contributor to change in the climate in New York City and has harmful effects on the residents, and the general ecosystem around New York City and the rest of the world.

As Garner et al. (11861) cites, research shows that New York City’s coastal flood hazard experienced within the past decade is associated with climatic change as a result of global warming (greenhouse effect). An increase in temperatures creates a suitable environment for the breeding of mosquitos, thus, a rapid increase in malaria and yellow fever infections (Hazra et al. 32). Cases of genetic skin disorders such as Novel Erythromelalgia (Morisset 031) in New York are a result of global warming.

Based on the projections of the effects of global warming (Szulejko et al. 136), controversies have aroused concerning the need for eradicating greenhouse gases which are major precursors of global warming. Total removal of greenhouse gases through exercising green chemistry in the manufacturing sector has many pros than cons.
