Extract of sample "The Theory of Population"

a) Population geography is a term used to refer to the study of the geography of human beings and it focuses on how various factors including the scattering, relocation as well as progression of human population impacts the environment and landscape of a particular region. In other words the study of population geography examines the idea the number of individuals living in a particular region and how they impact that particular region. Population geography is divided into two different sections including the quantity as well as the dispersal of individuals throughout the world and the changes in the number of individuals in different areas. b) The term population cohort is even recognized as population pyramid and this concept forwards the notion that a particular population comprises of organisms that are similar in nature and interbreed in a particular area. The theory states that population changes in three different stages including the growth stage in which population experiences an increase as a result of abundant sources for nutrition and low competition for those sources (Faculty.ucc.edu 1). The second stage is the stability stage in which population growth increases at a stable rate because of decrease in resources and increase in competition. The third stage is decline in which the population growth decreases as a result of lack of resources and ultimately the population comes to an end. Answer 2 a) The term Islam is used to refer to the submission to what the God wills. This means that the believers in the religion of Islam give precedence to the God’s will over their own will in various endeavors of their life including daily activities, believes and ideas. b) The term Muslim is used to refer to an individual who follows the religion of Islam and is an individual who has surrendered himself to their God called Allah. This means that a Muslim is an individual who has given himself in the hands of God and has allowed God to decide what the individual should and should not do. c) The religion of Islam is based on five pillars that every Muslim has to accept and abide by. These pillars include the belief that there is no other God in this world except Allah. Furthermore a believer has to worship Allah five times a day while facing towards Mecca. A believer even has to share his earnings with others in the form of charity and observe fast during the holy month of Ramadan. Lastly, a believer who has the physical as well as monetary ability should visit Mecca as a form of pilgrimage. d) The Church of Latter-day Saints is a fresh subgroup of an earlier group called Protestants and has been developed on the basis of the belief that the angel called Moroni brought revelations on the earth to an individual named Joseph Smith and these revelations later became the basis of development of Church of Latter-day Saints. Answer 3 a) The term language geography is used to refer to the study in which it is identified and analyzed the use of different languages in different regions and how these languages are utilized in different settings within a particular region. b) The term lingua franca is used to refer to the adoption of English as a commonly used language in communication in those regions where English is utilized to help those individuals communicate who do not share a language that they mutually understand. c) Official language is that language that a particular region’s government had adopted in order to write and develop rules and regulations, government reports as well as government controlled objects such as money and signs on the road. d) American English Language was adopted by the American citizens or the natives of America because of the influence of the British English Language and this influence was caused due to British colonization of the region of America. Furthermore the development of American English is quite devolutionary in nature. This means that American English was adapted through British English language in different stages as different British populations entered America. e) Ebonics is a term used to refer that is spoken by the African American English and was developed due to the African American’s effort to deteriorate or degrade the American English language with the intent of use the language in order to insult competing races of America. Answer 4 The term migration geography is used to refer to the study that focuses on why people move from one region to another, to which areas they prefer moving and from which areas they depart. Some people migrate because if better economic opportunities such as better paying jobs or better business environment in which they can earn higher profits. People even migrate because the area in which they depart form does not suit their cultural values and norms and the areas where they are migrating to are a better fit for their cultural values and norms. People even migrate because the areas in which they actually live are experiencing detonating environmental conditions that are negatively impacting their health as compared to areas that they are migrating to. Furthermore some people may migrate from one region to another because they are forced to do so by others. For example people belonging to a particular ethnicity may be negatively treated by people belonging to another ethnicity and they may choose to migrate in order to live in peace with people who belong to their own ethnicity. People may even migrate if they perceive that the area to which they are migrating is not far away from the area they are departing from. Answer 5 The term cultural geography is used to refer the subfield of the study of geography of human beings. This subfield focuses on the different kinds of cultures and how different cultures interact in the context of the environment as well as spaces. The Possibilism theory in the context of cultural geography is the concept that the environment of a particular region creates hurdles as well as restrictions but the culture of a region or of a community is determined on the basis of societal conditions. This theory differs as compared to the environmental determinism theory of cultural geography which states that the culture of a particular society or a region is determined by the interaction of the human beings with the physical environment of a particular region. The difference between the two theories is that the Possibilism theory asserts that it is the social environment such as the people and the governance of a region that dictates the changes and creation of culture.
