Affiliation Execution Analysis of Delta Airlines Structure Delta Airlines is a multinational corporation whose services are used by over 160 million customers operating on a centralized structure. It has a global network that is ranked the best and leading in the airline industry. Their services are spread over 330 destinations over 65 countries across the six continents of the world. The airline has its headquarters in Atlanta with a work force of more than 80,000 employees from all parts of the world working in all their destinations. They have mainline fleets that consist of more than 700 aircrafts. The company prides itself in partnerships through alliances through which they are able to offer services. On average in a given day Delta airlines are able to avail over 15,000 flights for their customers who are going to different destinations across the different continents of the world. Its several hubs and destinations in the different parts of the world include Atlanta, Detroit, Amsterdam, Memphis, Cincinnati, Tokyo-Narita, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-LaGuardia. Of these hubs Atlanta stands out as the largest major hub owned by the Delta Airlines offer on average more than 1026 flights in a day to about 216 destinations (Delta Airlines News Room, 2013). Their success as an airline business could be attributed to the heavy investment of more than $3 billion in the maintenance and upgrade of the facilities of the airports, services, global products and technology to perfect the kind of services and products that they offer to their customers. It is this efficiency and determination in offering of quality services that saw them voted the airline that was most admired over the world as per the Fortune magazine report. The company also a founder member of the SkyTeam global alliance and is renowned for participating in joint trans Atlantic venture with other partners like the Alitalia and Air France-KLM (Delta Airlines News Room, 2013). Culture Delta Airline is more of a process-oriented company that focuses on its efforts geared towards quality product and service delivery in the market. Efficiency in their processes and streamlined operations are the reason behind the quality output that company has been able to pass down to their customers. Their willingness to embrace technological advancements as well as their strategy of tailoring their services so as to satisfy their customers through the years has seen them grow in the revenue generation and advance in service delivery. The process-oriented approach to their service and product packaging is the unique factor that has made them stand out from their competitors and given them a competitive edge over their competitors. Another stand out feature about the culture of Delta Airline is the organizational approach they have adopted as opposed to individual focus. Their services and accomplishment are tailored to reflect the success of an entire group rather than focus on individual effort. This is clearly reflected in the recognition platforms like for instance the award of being the most admired over the world as per the Fortune magazine report recognizes the collective effort of the company rather than the individual part or person in the company. Success of the company is vested upon each and every one of the 80,000 employees from the top management down and all are expected to discharge their responsibilities effectively to guarantee the success. The Delta Airline culture is tight and strict rather but not loose. This is reflected in the ethics and code of conduct upon which each and every employer is expected to abide. Process-oriented approach adopted by the company places a responsibility upon each and every individual involved in the activities of the Airline to perform exceptionally well to guarantee quality in terms of performance and results of the company. Hence the management and expectations of the Airline are rather tight and strict to challenge the employee to perform. Control The firm is controlled in the following ways: The market: Delta Airline has performed better in the market over the years because of its process-oriented approach which ensures that the products and services are of good quality and acceptable in the market. The company posted annual revenue of $35.1 billion in 2012 with the liquidation levels standing at $5.1 billion showing the excellent performance of the Airline in the markets. As at July, 2013 the Airline was serving 330 destinations of which 106 were international destinations while the remaining 224 were domestic destinations. Its partners in collaboration with them serve over 602 destinations in 116 countries. Regulatory bodies: Being a multinational that serves very many nations, the Delta Airline is expected to comply with many bodies and regulations imposed by these bodies. The bodies that regulate the scope of operations of the various corporations in the airline industry expect that Delta Airlines should conform to the laid down rules and regulations to provide fair ground for all participants in the airline business. Being a hub in the American country, the Airline first of all is expected to conform to the regulatory bodies of the United States of America within the areas that their services touch on. Media: This plays a critical role in the activities of the Delta Airline. The organization is faced with so much media attention which streamlines its activities in line with what the media will say. The media has reported quite positively on the activities of the Delta Airline as highlighted by the Fortune magazine. Such great performance and merit through the vote of the people through the media goes a long way to show that media has a critical role in the overall performance and result of the Airline. Articles done reflect on the Airline as a whole rather than highlight individual effort due to the process-oriented approach. Leadership The Delta Airlines is under the leadership of the Richard H. Anderson who is the Chief Executive Officer as well as the member of the company’s Board of Directors. With him as the head and through his leadership team, the Delta Airlines has been streamlined to be a company based on values and integrity as the key virtues to its performance. The leadership has transformed the company through various strategies and creative approaches to transform the airline to not only are a service provider but a business entity fetching profits from the markets. Under the CEO’s leadership the company has been able to achieve: exemplary customer care service provision, reduced debt through enhancing the revenues earned by working with flexibility and stability for the long term advantages of the company as well as enhancing partnerships with other organizations. The exemplary leadership has earned the Airline the Most Admired Airline title through Fortune government because of the Airline’s effectiveness in products and services quality, innovativeness, social responsibility as well as quality management. Richard has a 25 year experience in the aviation industry which explains his quality leadership. Conclusion The success of Delta Airline as a company is entirely based on the effectiveness of products and service delivery. The adoption of an effective structure that employee the centralized style of management while at the same time considering all the employees of the Airline in its production is a key component of the excellence in service delivery for the organization. Its stringent culture that has been maintained through the years explains the success and excellent perfornce the company has recorded since its inception.
